TOWN PROFILE

LOCATION :

            Karumathampatti is a Selection grade Town Panchayat in Coimbatore District since 05.02.1982, under Tamil Nadu District Municipalities Act, 1920. It is situated at a distance of 32 km from Coimbatore town.

            Karumathampatti is surrounded by Semmandampalayam Village on the eastern side, Kittamapalayam Village on the Northern side, Kaniyur Village on the Western side and Samalapuram town panchayat on the Southern side.

            There are a lot of ancient temples in Karumathampatti such as Senni Andavar temple with an exceptional Ayyankovil temple, Subramaniyar temple and Mariamman temple etc.The state level famous Car Festival  of Jabamalai Matha Church in Karumathampatti Town panchayat.

MASTER PLAN FOR KARUMATHAMPATTI

                        The existing administrative status of the town comes under the classification of Town Panchayat which is coming under the administration of Directorate of Town Panchayat, Government of Tamil Nadu. The development of the town is guided by the guidelines and instructions issued by Government of Tamil Nadu, Directorate of Town Panchayat. Based on the 1994 Municipal Act, the elected council has been formed which will take care of development and perspective plan of the town.

COMMERCIAL

                        The town serves as the feeder town for the surrounding villages. The surrounding villages and tribal villages are connected through minor roads to this town. The main occupations of the peripheral villages are the agricultural activities. The town supplies the impediments. The commercial institutions are provisional stores, food grain stores, hotels, cafeteria, vegetable shops, petty shops, banks, godowns, markets, lodges, fertilizer departments, lorry, taxi services and 3 cinema theatres. All types of commercial activities and Power Loom, Cloth Production and both wholesale and retail business is doing in this Town Panchayat.

WATER SUPPLY

                        There are two Water supply schemes in operation. Pillur Scheme water supply scheme owned by 23 Town Panchayats & wayside villages in the year 1997.          Total quantity of water daily supplied is 26.00 lakhs litres. Rate of water supply at present is 74 LPCD one time per day. Present storage capacity of 16 nos OHT is 20 lakhs litres(2.6 MLD). 3569 House Service connections are given against the property tax assessment 10072.78 Public fountains, 88 Bore wells are also maintained by ULB.

DRAINAGE AND SANITATION

                        There is no under ground drainage system in this town. The town is provided with open drains. The Town Panchayat is having 16 numbers of flush out latrines and urinals.      At present 24.723 Kms length of drains are maintained by the Town Panchayat.

ROAD

                        The Town Panchayat is maintaining roads as B.T. Road 58.550 Km, C.C. Road 20.332 KM, Earthen Road  9.499 Km,  Total    88.381 Km Besides this National Highways Department is maintaining of B.T. Roads within this Town.

STREET LIGHTING

                    This Town Panchayat is maintaining street lights as 40W Tube light 1780 Nos, 250 W.S. V. Lamps 180 nos, Solar light 50 Nos, CFL 175 Nos Total 2185 Nos.

EDUCATION AND MEDICAL FACILITIES

                        There are 3 Higher Secondary Schools, 2 High Schools, 4 Middle School, 5 Primary Schools spread over entire town. There is polytechnic 1, Engineering college 1, Arts & Science college 1 and Teacher Training Institutions 1 in this town.  

HEALTH FACILITY

                        At present one Govt. Hospital (PHC) is maintained by Tamil Nadu Government. Other Private Hospital Function in this Town Panchayat
