TOWN PROFILE

 

    Pethanaickenpalayam Town is located in Pethanaickenpalayam taluk in Salem District. The town is about 39 kms from Salem Town (Which is about 302 kms southwest of Chennai). It is an important fertile packet of Salem district rich in agriculture and releated small scale industries, such as Rice mills etc.

                                                                         

   The Town Panchayat is spread over an area of 12.90 sq.km. The population of as per 2011 census is 17,678. There are 8 numbers of notified slums and this instant proposal is proposed for all these Eight slums. The total slum population of the town is 2,380 which is 22% of the total town population.

          A detailed Socio-Economic Survey for the selected slums (1) has been carried out, As per the Survey, most of the slum dwellers are engaged in construction activities and industries as daily labors. The Breakup details is given here under.

WATER SUPPLY

Existing:

 

          Water source for the town is taped from Caveri river’ infiltration well which is 79 kms from the town. The taped water is pumped to an OHT located at 200 meter from the Main Pumping Line and then it is distributed to the nearby village trough gravity flow. At present, 1.2 MLD of water is being supplied to the town @ 70 lpcd. The total length of the town water supply distribution system is 24 kms.

          There is no Under Ground Sewerage System is available for this town.
