ADIRAMPATTINAM TOWN PANCHAYAT PROFILE OF THE TOWN Adirampattinam Town Panchayat is situated at about 12 k.m. from Pattukkottai Town towards the eastern side of Pattukkottai. In the area there are five famous temples, two churches and ten mosques are situated in this Town Panchayat. The Adirampattinam Panchayat which was formed on 12-07-1886 and the Panchayat had got gradewise upgradation on the following manner. i) Town Panchayat G.O.No. 1154 Dt. 28-05-1954 ii) Town panchayat (Ist Grade) Government Order No. 1154 Dt. 28-05-54 iii) Town Panchayat (Selection Grade) Director of Rural Development, Chennai Letter NO.5085/82 Dt: 25-2-1982 Adirampattinam town Panchayat is one of the Selection Grade Town Panchayat in Thanjavur District in Tamilnadu State. The Town is located on the state highways from Pattukkottai, 12Km from South of Pattukkottai 14Km West of Muthupettai, 15Km East of Mallipattinam and North of Seashore in the end of Town. It is located on the Northern bank of Pak Jalachandhi. Major district roads connect Adirampattinam town with surrounding region and other urban centres in the State. There are some State highways passing through this town. The major district roads connecting other important urban centres are as follows : Chennai - Adirampattinam, Pattukkottai, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam Adirampattinam – Muthupettai Road, Adirampattinam – Ramesweram Road, Adirampattinam – Pattukkottai Road, These roads form a total length of 24 kms within the town limit. This town is well connected with other important urban centres in Pattukkottai and Thanjavur District and nearby major towns like Pudhukottai, Muthupettai, Mannargudi and Pattukkottai by roads among the major roads. Thanjavur road and Pattukkottai Road have heavy traffic volume through out the year. These Climate throughout the year is moderate. The variation between maximum and minimum temperature is not much. The town gets rain mostly during North east Monsoon. The average annual rainfall for the town is 1600mm. The maximum rainfall occurs during the months of October to December. The town is not having any commercially exploidable minerals. The loose clay Soil are the major type of soils found in the region. More than 85 % of the area are covered by Loose Clay Soil nearest seashore, which is fertile and suited for Fisheries purpose. Rice is the principle crop ; Coconut, Mango and Tamarind are the major types of trees found in the region.
