Mannachanallur Town Panchayat was established as Panchayat vide G.O.No.419, Dated : 15.02.1889 of Chennai Sthal Sthabanam and Municipal Administration, after that it was upgraded as Town Panchayat vide G.O.No.1258, Dated : 07.06.1944. Now, it is functioning as Selection Grade Town Panchayat vide upgrading vide Ni.Mu.No.167716/1979, Dated : 21.10.1970 of Chennai Municiapal Administration and Panchayat Dept. Mannachanallur Town Panchayat is located at Center point of Mannachanallur in Edumalai road. Total Square Kilo meter is 10.32 which included three revenue villages 1) Mannachanallur 2) Ulunthangudi and 3) Melasridevimangalam. Total population is 27563 based on the survey of 2013. It is divided by 18 wards. People are living the Town Panchayat area are provided all the basic amenities sufficiently like Water facility, Street Lights, Roads, Drainage, Culverts etc., 20 Nos of Public Toilets are in good condition for the people. Solid Waste Management Scheme is successfully implemented and Wastages collected from the people by Door to Door Collection. Public Health works are maintained by the Public Health Section of this Town Panchayat. 30 Nos of Public Health Staff are working in the Town Panchayat and 2 Nos. of Mini Lorry, 1 No. of Tractor and Tiller and 1 No. of Power Tiller and 37 Nos. of Push cart are owned by the Town Panchayat. For Revenue Incomes 88 Nos. of Market shops, Weekly shandy, Slaughter House. Hotels, Marriage Halls, Parks are available. Other than that, Temples, Police Station, Government Hospital, Post Office, Petrol Bunk, Telephone Office, TDCC Bank, IOB, SBI, BOB, UCO Bank and other facilities are available in Town Panchayat area. 1 No. of Women’s College, 2 Nos. of Government High School for Girls and Boys merely. 2 Nos. of Primary School, 1 No. of Middle School and 3 Nos. of Private School are in functioning in Town Panchayat limit. Mostly Rice Mill business is going well in the area. Canals are available like Peruvali Vaikal, Panguni Vaikal, Pullambadi Vaikal for Agriculture purpose. Railway Station also available in nearby town Utthamarkoil. 7149 Houses are available, in which 5220 houses are having Individual Toilet facility.
