Darasuram town Panchayat is a First Grade Town Panchayat, Thanjavur District. Its situated near to Kumbakonam Municipality. It consists of 15 wards with 15,326. Male 7663, Female 7663. Population as per 2001 Census. Now the Population is nearly 17,000. The area of Town Panchayat is 2.3 Sq.km. Annual Income is Rs. 242.12 Lakhs, Annual Expenditure is Rs. 231.70 Lakhs In Solid waste management, Door to door collection is carried out daily by using pushcarts in 14 wards out of 15 wards of this town panchayat. Collect the waste and rubbish 4.95 M.Ton and it is segregated at the source and produce compost and it is sold to farmers. In Public health, 10 sanitary workers and 13 SHG members are involved in this work. In water supply local and Kumbakonam-Darasuram- Valayapettai combined water supply scheme and From Kavarkoodam individual Kollidam water supply scheme is handover from TWAD to Darasuram Townpanchayat and implemented from 31.3.2017, as a testing level and 95 LPCD water supply is given to public. தாராசுரம் முதல்நிலை பேரூராட்சி தஞ்சாவூர் மாவட்டத்தில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இப் பேரூராட்சி கும்பகோணம் நகராட்சியை ஒட்டி அமைந்துள்ளது. இப் பேரூராட்சியில் 15 வார்டுகள் உள்ளது. மொத்த மக்கள் தொகை 2011 கணக்கெடுப்பின்படி 15326. தற்பொழுது சுமார் 17,000 மக்கள் தொகை உள்ளது. மொத்த பரப்பளவு 2.3. ச.கி.மீ. மொத்த ஆண்டு வருவாய் ரூ.242.12 லட்சம் ஆண்டின் செலவு ரூ. 231.70 லட்சம் திடக்கழிவு மேலாண்மை திட்டம் சிறப்பாக செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு வருகிறது. 15 வார்டுகளில் 14 வார்டுகளில் வீடு, வீடாக சென்று குப்பைகள் சேகரம் செய்யப்பட்டு தரம் பிரிக்கப்படுகிறது. 10 துப்புரவு பணியாளர்களும், 13 சுய உதவிக்குழு உறுப்பினர்களும் இப்பணியில் ஈடுபடுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர். குடிநீர் விநியோகம் சீராக செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது. காலை, மாலை இரு வேளைகளிலும் பொதுமக்களுக்கு குடிநீர் வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. 95 எல்.பி.சி.டி அளவில் குளோரினேஷன் செய்யப்பட்டு குடிநீர் விநியோகம் செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தொடர் கண்காணிப்பில் உள்ளது. உள்ளூர், கும்பகோணம்-தாராசுரம்-வளையப்பேட்டை கொள்ளிடம் கூட்டு குடிநீர் திட்டம் மற்றும் காவற்கூடத்திலிருந்து தனி கொள்ளிடம் குடிநீர் திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு 1.4.2016 முதல் தாராசுரம் பேரூராட்சிக்கு ஒப்படைப்பு செய்யப்பட்டு, 95 எல்.பி.சி.டி அளவில் குடிநீர் பொதுமக்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தெருவிளக்கு 100 சதவீதம் சிறப்பாக செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டு உள்ளது. பழுதுகள் தொடர் கண்காணிப்பு மேற்கொண்டு பழுதுகள் உடனுக்குடன் சீர் செய்யப்பட்டு வருகிறது. 427 டியூப்,105 சோடியம் ஆவி விளக்குகள், 129 அடர் மின் விளக்கு, 20 எல்.இ.டி.விளக்குகள், 2 உயர் கோபுர ஆவி விளக்குகள் உள்ளது. ஆக கூடுதல் 683 தெரு மின் விளக்குகள் உள்ளது. தெரு மின் விளக்குகள் மாலை 6 மணி முதல் காலை 6 மணி வரை இயக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தானியங்கி சுவிட்சுகள் அனைத்து இடங்களில் பொருத்தப்பட்டு மின்சாரம் சேமிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தாராசுரம் பேரூராட்சியில் யுனெஸ்கோவால் உலக பாரம்பரிய சின்னமாகவும், இந்திய தொல்லியல் துறையால் புராதான சின்னமாக அறிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள ஸ்ரீ ஐராவதேஸ்வரர் திருக்கோயில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
