The Punjai Thottakkurichy Panchayat which was formed as a Village Panchayat in 1967 and the Panchayat had got upgradation as a Town Panchayat in following manner. 1. Second Grade : In the year 1967 2. FirstI Grade : In the year 1975 The extent of the Town Panchayat is 12.500 Sq.K.M. The population of the Town Panchayat is 9649 as per 2001 census and 10969 as per 2011. The town was delineated to 15 Administration wards. The Town is situated along 16 KM North East of Karur and lies on the Karur - Velur Road and on the highways from Karur – Namakkal – Karur national Higways No : 7 15km from Karur the Capital of karur District, 30 km from Namakkal the capital of namakkal District. This is Both Industrial and Agricultural Based town Town Panchayat located on South side Cauvery River and is very famous for the presents of a number of Channel( Popular Muthalaiyar ). Famous Temples called ‘Varatharaja Perumal’, the place today attracts devotees and visitors to every Saturday and another Malaiyaman festival and Mariyamman festival” another spacility festivel Once in 5 years the Annammar Koil Function celebrated. This Town situated very closer to the bank of Cauvery River. So there is no water scarcity in this town . Further to this the town panchayat maintained 14.050 km main pipeline and 42.250 km distribution pipeline for providing drinking water, 4 OHTS and 1 sump was maintained, with the help of above facility the Town Panchayat giving 120.00 LPCD water to the People. The Town Panchayat maintained 55.566 km of roads out of which BT Road. CC Road and earthen Road. The provision and maintenance of streetlight is an obligatory function of Punjai Thottakkurichy Town Panchayat. TNEB installs new street light poles and draws electric cables and the Town Panchayat is responsible for operation and maintenance. Punjai Thottakkurichy has 703 streetlights spreaded at an average distance of 30mt. In this Town the common occupation of the peoples were Agriculture and Agricultural Labours. In Punjai Thottakkurichy Town, there are One Engineering College, One Government High Schools, One Private Schools, One Panchayat Union middle Schools and Eight Panchayat Union Elementary Schools are being functioning in effective manner. 8 noon meal centre and 8 anganvadies are also available in the ULB. At Present In Punjai Thottakkurichy Town, There is One Private Hospital with beds and Two Health Sub Centre are serving to the public. The Town Panchayat have one Compostiate. The solid waste management comprising collection, transportation to the Compostiate and segregation was made for Bio-Compost. Town Panchayat solid waste comprises from households, markets, commercial establishments, hotels, hospitals and industries in the town. புஞ்சை தோட்டக்குறிச்சி பேரூராட்சி 1967ம் ஆண்டு கிராம பஞ்சாயத்தாக இருந்தது. மீண்டும் 1967ம் ஆண்டு இரண்டாம் நிலை பேரூராட்சியாகவும் 1975ம் ஆண்டு முதல் நிலை பேரூராட்சியாகவும் உயர்த்தப்பட்டது. இப்பேரூராட்சி 12.50சதுர கிலோ மீட்ட்ர் பரப்புரடையது. இப்பேரூராட்சியின் மக்கள் தொகை 2001ம் ஆண்டு 9649 ஆகவும், 2011ம் ஆண்டு 10969 ஆகவும் உள்ளது. பேரூராட்சியில் உள்ள மொத்த வார்டுகளின் எண்ணிக்கை 15. பேரூராட்சி கரூர் நகரிலிருந்து 16 கி.மீ தொலைவில் கரூர் முதல் வேலூர் செல்லும் வழியில் உள்ளது. இப்பேரூராட்சியில் விவசாயம் மற்றும் சிறு தொழிற்சாலைகளை முதன்மையாக கொண்டு வடபுறம் காவேரி ஆறு மற்றும் பாப்பூலர் முதலயார் வாய்க்காலும் கொண்டு செலிப்பு மிக்கதாகும். இப்பேரூராட்சி பகுதிகளில் வரதராஜபொருமாள் கோவில் மிகவும் பிரசிதம் பெற்றுள்ளது. இக்கோவிலில் ஒவ்வொரு சனிக்கிழமையும் மிகவும் சிறப்பாக பூஜைகள் மேற்கொள்வது வழக்கம். மேலும், இப்பேரூராட்சியில் மலையம்மன் கோவில் மற்றும் மாரியம்மன் கோவில்கள் சிறப்பு வாய்ந்தது. இக்கோவிலின் திருவிழாக்கள் வருடா வருடம் மிகவும் சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படும். மேலும், அன்னமார் கோவில் என்று ஒரு ஆலையம் உள்ளது இக்கோவில் திருவிழா ஐந்து ஆண்டுகளுக்கு ஒரு முறை மிகவும் சிறப்பாக வழிபடக்கூடும் இவ்விழாக்காலங்களில் ஆயிரக்கனக்கான மக்கள் தங்கி சிறப்பாக வழிபடுவார்கள். இப்பேரூராட்சிக்கு அருகில் காவேரி ஆற்றுப்படுகை உள்ளதால் தண்ணீர் பற்றாக்குறையின்றி பொதுமக்களுக்கு தண்ணீர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இப்பேரூராட்சியில் குடிநீர் விநியோகம் செய்வதற்கு 14.050 கி.மீ முதன்மை குழாயும் 42.050 கி.மீ பகிர்மானக்குழாயும் அமைக்கப்பட்டு ஒரு நாள் விட்டு ஒரு நாள் குடிநீர் சீராக வழங்கப்படுகிறது. மேலும், இப்பேரூராட்சியில் மேல்நிலை நீர்தேக்கத்தொட்டிகள் நான்கும், தரைமட்ட தொட்டி ஒன்றும் உள்ளது. பொது மக்களுக்கு 120.எல்.பி.சி.டி அளவு தண்ணீர் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. இப்பேரூராட்சி பகுதிகளில் 55.566 கி.மீ நீளத்திற்கு சாலைகள் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இவைகள் தார்சாலைகள், சிமெண்ட் சாலைகள் மற்றும் மண் சாலைகளாக பல விதமாக போடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இப்பேரூராட்சியில் 703 தெருவிளக்குகள் பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இவைகள் தமிழ்நாடு மின்சார வாரிய துறையினால் வழங்கப்பட்டு பேரூராட்சியின் மூலம் பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இத்தெருவிளக்குகள் சராசரியாக 30 மீட்டர் தொலைவிற்கு ஒன்று அமைக்கப்பட்டு பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இப்பேரூராட்சி பகுதிகளில் ஒரு பொறியியல் கல்லூரியும், ஒரு உயர்நிலைப்பள்ளி, ஒரு தனியார் பள்ளிக்கூடம், ஒரு பஞ்சாயத்து யூனியன் நடுநிலைப்பள்ளி மற்றும் எட்டு பஞ்சாயத்து யூனியன் ஆரம்பப்பள்ளியும் உள்ளது. இவைகள் அனைத்தும் சிறப்பான முறையில் நடைபெற்று வருகிறது. இவைகளில் எட்டு மதிய உணவகம் உள்ளது. மேலும், 8 அங்கன்வாடி மையங்களும் உள்ளது. இப்பேரூராட்சி பகுதிகளில் ஒரு தனியார் மருத்துவமனையும், இரண்டு அரசு ஆரம்ப துணை சுகாதார நிலையங்களும் உள்ளது. இப்பேரூராட்சியின் மூலம் 9 சுடு மற்றும் இடுகாடுகள் பராமரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இப்பேரூராட்சிக்கு சொந்தமான ஒரு வளமீட்பு பூங்கா உள்ளது. இவ்விடத்தில் பேரூராட்சி பகுதிகளில் தினமும் வாங்கப்படும் மக்கும் குப்பைகள் மற்றும் மக்காத குப்பைகள் தரம்பிரிக்கப்பட்டு இயற்கை உரம் தயாரிக்கப்படுகிறது. மேலும், இவ்வளமீட்பு பூங்காவில் மண்புழு உரம் மற்றும் இயற்கை உணவு எரிவாய்வு தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. தினமும் பேரூராட்சி பகுதியில் 1050 கிலோ கொண்ட கழிவுகள் சேகாரம் செய்யப்படுகிறது. இவைகளே இப்பேரூராட்சிகளின் ஒருசில முக்கிய சிறப்பம்சங்கள்.
