 Town History

                        PERIYANAICKENPALAYAM Town Panchayat is a Selection Grade Town Panchayat. The extent of the Town Panchayat is 9.37 Sq.km. The population of the town was 25930 in 2011 Census. The Town was delineated to 18 Administratiive  wards. PERIYANAICKENPALAYAM Town Panchayat is located at a distance of 22 kilometers north  of Coimbatore  on the Coimbatore – Mettupalayam   highway.

                        This Town Panchayat is covering of 4 habitation for following are.

1.Jothipuram, 2.Kasthuripalayam, 3.Kuppchipalayam, 4.Periyanaickenpalayam

Political Wing

                        The Panchayat council the Political arm of the Town consists of 18 directly elected councillors each representing a ward. The Chairman heads  the Town Panchayat council which performs its duties as per the provisions envisaged in District Municipalities Act 1920.  The Political wing provides direction to the Town Panchayat Administration and performs its functions through a set of committees constituted for different purposes.

Executive Wing

                        The Executive wing is responsible for day to day operations of the Town Panchayat and is headed by the Executive Officer.  The Executive Officer is the Administrative head of the Town Panchayat and is supported by different departments in the operations and maintenance.  The Organizational structure comprises of Four functional department.

 

Climate Condition

                  The temperature here is cool and humid throughout the year because of the location, viz., foothill of Nilgris,  except during summer.  The average rainfall is 50cm  in a year. 

 

 Historical Importance and Major Festival

                        There are One famous temples, for Lord ‘Siva’ in the Name of the Chokkalingeswarar Temple at Periyanaickenpalayam Town Panchayat. Its historical records from Chola period itself. and In the Town Panchayat near Ramakrishna Vidyalayam is celebrated Festival “Guru Pooja” famous festival every year January First Sunday in this surrounding area in Periyanaickenpalayam.

            

Solid Waste Management

 

            The total quantity of solid waste generate in the town is estimated to be about 8.50 tones (assuming 200 gms per capita) per day. But only about 8.50 tones of solid waste are effectively collected every day. The local body employs to clear the garbage’s. sweepers are employed for the purpose of cleaning. The collection vehicles make required trips per day collecting and transporting the solid waste.

 

            This garbage collected is Processing in Vermi and Bio Compost are generate and Sale in the area peoples. The Solid Waste Management situated in Sathya Nagar  And the part of the waste materials are collected and dumped in low  leveling  areas in the absence of compost yard.
