AYIKUDY FIRST GRADE TOWN PANCHAYAT INDROUCTION OF THE TOWN PANCHAYAT LOCATION OF THE TOWN PANCHAYAT Ayikudy Town Panchayat located 8.5 km away from North of Tenkasi town and located in Triunelveli in the State of Tamil Nadu. The average annual rainfall is 626 mm and the maximum temperature varies from 28ºC to 32ºC. The town is well connected by bus route and train route. It is located at about 600 Km from Chennai. It has population of 15129 as per 2011 Census with an Area of 8.5 Sq.Km. The Town Panchayat is comprises of 15 Wards. It has 4 slums with Population of 4666 as per 2011 Census. PHYSICAL AND SOCIO-ECONOMICFEATURE: LOCATION Ayikudy a first grade town Panchayat in Tirunelveli Distict is located at 60.km from Tirunelveli City. The population as per 2011 census 15129 Ayikudy Town experiencedorganized agriculture allied industries and factories. The total area of the town is 8.5 sq.km. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS The climate in the Ayikudy Town Panchayat is moderate. The average rainfall during a year is 960 mm and the town panchayat gets rainfall during the South West & North East Monsoon. Average temperature is 28.00 C minimum and 32.00 C is maximum. Major wind directions are East, Southeast in May and June and of West and North West in October and November. The soil type of this area is alluvial and Red soil and which is useful for cultivation of Paddy. The red and gravel soil is also found here which are utilized for the cultivation of other dry crops unlike other parts of the Taluk. LAND USE PATTERN It is observed that Agricultural areas are around. The town panchayat office and along the road leading to Surandai – Shenkottai National Highway road High and middle income residential areas are located in ward No. 6,10,11 and 15 middle income areas are in ward 8. The low income and EWS residential areas are situated in Ward No.13,14 and 5. The local body about 45% area of the Town Panchayat come under area of Agricultural land. PHYSICAL AND SOCIO- ECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURE WATER SUPPLY The main source of Water Supply for the city as well as slum area is the scheme with Open well water supply Scheme and CWSS Scheme as source from which treated water quantity of 1.89 MLD is being drawn and distributed to the Town through a network of distribution system at the rate of 72 Lpcd. ROAD The total length of the internal roads coming under the Town Panchayat is 46.917 km. The classification of the road is as follows. 1. CC road - 4.095 km 2. B.T. Road - 32.113 km 3. Earthen road - 10.709 km Total 46.917 km STREET LIGHTING There as about 659 street lights installed and maintained by the town panchayat classification of the street lights are as follows. Sodium 82 nos. Tube Lights 262 Nos, CFL lights 265 and LED 50 Nos . There are areas without streetlights also. EDUCATION AND MEDICAL FACILITIES: Ayikudy well known town for education facilities in the region. The town has 4 primary , 1 Middle and 3 higher secondary schools and One Engineering and One Arts Colleges around in the Town Panchayat Area. Medical Facilities In Ayikudy town Panchayat there are 1 hospitals licated. Here there is 1 Govt., hospital, so the peoples are to the nearest Govt., hospital Ayikudy with in town. BURIAL GROUND The town and the hamlets has Six Burial Grounds. A small road is connecting between burial ground and the town and hamlets. COMMERCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES. The major commercial area and the type of commercial activities existing in the town. Generally all the temple areas are occupied by commercial activities. Therefore the town requires a comprehensive approach in evolving suitable plan for organizing and guiding the commercial developments within town especially around temple. which have got high heritage value. This necessitates for directing the future growth of commercial activities way from the central areas to outskirts in order to control the congestion and safeguard the heritage areas in the town. there is no daily market surrounding area. Hence agriculture productions are i.e. Sugar cane, Baddy vegetables and bananas are marketing in this town only for the surrounding area.

ஆய்க்குடி பேரூராட்சி 15.08.1953 முதல் ஆய்க்குடி கிளாங்காடு எனும் இரு வருவாய் கிராமங்களை கொண்டு திருவாங்கூர் கொச்சி அரசின் 31.07.51 ம் தேதிய உத்திரவுப்படி அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.பின்பு சென்னை ஊரகவளர்ச்சிஇயக்குநர் அவர்களின் 19.6.1969 ம் தேதிய ந.க 28730 /68/ஈ1 உத்திரவுப்படி ஆய்க்குடி பேரூராட்சியானது. கிளாங்காடு வருவாய் கிராமம் நீங்கலாக பிரிக்கப்பட்டு ஆய்க்குடி வருவாய் கிராமபகுதி மட்டும் முதல் நிலை பேரூராட்சியாக செயல்பட்டு வந்தது. மீண்டும் அரசாணை எண் 150 நாள் 1.10.04 (ஊரக வளர்ச்சித் துறை) இன்படி 14.6.2004 முதல் சிறப்பு சிற்றூராட்சியாக செயல்பட்டு தற்போது அரசாணை எண் 55 நாள் 14-7-2006 -ன் படி பேரூராட்சியாக செயல் பட்டு வருகிறது திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்தில் இயற்கை எழில் சிந்தும் பொதிகை மலை அடிவாரத்தில் ஆய்க்குடி பேரூராட்சி பகுதி அமைந்துள்ளது. இதன் பரப்பளவு 8.5 ச.கி.மீட்டர் மற்றும் மக்கள் தொகை 2011 கணக்கணக்கெடுப்பின் படி 15129 ஆகும். ஊரைச் சுற்றி தென்னந்தோப்புகளும், வெற்றிலை கொடிக்கால்களும் நிறைந்து காணப்படுகிறது. இங்கு புகழ்பெற்ற கம்பிளி மகாலிங்கம் கோவில் மற்றும் பாலசுப்பிரமணியம் சுவாமி கோவில்கள் உள்ளன. கம்பிளி மகாலிங்கம் கோவிலில் பங்குனி உத்திர திருவிழா ஆண்டுதோறும் விமரிசையாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இலட்சக்கணக்கில் பக்தர்கள் கூடும் அந்நாளில் அன்னதானம் அறுசுவையுடன் வழங்கப்படுகிறது. மாவட்டத்தின் அனைத்து பகுதிகளில் இருந்தும் சிறப்பு பேருந்துகள் இயக்கப் படுகின்றன. ஆண்டுதோறும் திருச் செந்தூரில் சூரசம்ஹார விழா நடத்தப்படுவது போல் ஆய்க்குடி பாலசுப்பிரமணியம் கோவிலிலும் வெகு சிறப்பாக சூரசம்ஹார விழா நடைபெறுகிறது. ஆய்க்குடி பேரூராட்சிக்குட்பட்ட அகரக்கட்டு பகுதியில் புனித அந்தோணியார் ஆலயம் உள்ளது. ஆண்டுதோறும் ஜூன் மாதத்தில் புனித அந்தோணியார் ஆலய திருவிழா வெகு சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இதற்கெல்லாம் சிகரம் வைத்தாற்போல் ஊனமுற்றவர்களுக்கு , ஊனமுற்றவர்களாலேயே நடத்தப்படும் பயிற்சி கூடம் (அமர்சேவா சங்கம்) அமைந்துள்ளது. இங்குள்ள பள்ளி , கலையரங்கம், கணிணி மையம் , தட்டச்சு மையம் , தையல் பயிற்சி மையம், கைவினைப் பொருட்கள் தயாரித்தல் மையம் மற்றும் தோட்டக்கலை பயிற்சி மையங்களை தினந்தோறும் ஆயிரக்கணக்கான சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் வந்து ஆச்சரியத்துடன் பார்வையிட்டு செல்கின்றனர்.
