Keeripatty is one of the First Grade Town Panchayat in Salem District, Which is Urban Local Body coming under the preview of the Director of Town Panchayats, Chennai, Government of Tamilnadu. This Town Panchayat is First Grade Local Body as per the Classification and the total population of Local body is 10208 as per 2011 Census. Further floating population of the town is 50 coming from the nearby Villages for working. There are 15 Wards and 1 Numbers of habitations. The total area of Town Panchayat is 26.87 Sq.km.
TOWN ADMINISTRATION
The Keeripatty Town Panchayat was constituted Village Panchayat before 1971 and further it was upgraded to First Grade Town Panchayat from 01-06-1971 and functioning as such till date. The extent of the Panchayat is 26.87 Sq.K.M. The population of the Town Panchayat is 10208 as per 2011 census, consisting men 5174 and 5034 women.
The town was delineated to 15 Administration wards. The Urban local Body elections were held on 25.10.2011 for the posts of Town Panchayat Chairman and 15 Councillors.
LOCATION
Keeripatty known originally as Ananthagiri is. situated on the banks of river vashistanadi. Attur lies between 11`30` and 11` 40` Northern Latitude and between 78` 30` and 78` 40` Eastern Longitude. It is located at a distance of 12 kilometres South of Attur on the Thammampatty-Attur State highway. It is located at a distance of 75 kilometres west of Salem And the Boundaries are noted as below.
North : Kadasamy Pudur
East : Rasipuram Forest
South : Nagiampatty
West : Paithur Forest
