INTRODUCTION OF THE TOWN PANCHAYAT

Alwarthirunagari Town Panchayat coming under the administrative territory of Tiruchendur Taluck, Toothukudi District.  This Town Panchayat is coming under municipal Act from the year 1996. In the year 11.6.2004 wide G.O.No.270 Date. 04.06.2004 It as called Special Village Panchayat.  Again on 14.7.2006 wide G.O.No.55 date 14.07.2006 as Town Panchayat.

              Alwarthirunagari Town Panchayat is the Birth Place of Swamy Nammalwar. It is situated on the South bank of “Thambirabarani River” It is a Srivaishnavili pilgrim centre. The famous Athinatha Alwar Temple is in the health of the Town.  The festival which is celebrated in the name of “ 5th Thiruvizha” is very important in Tamil Nadu. It is Thoothukudi District. It belongs to Tiruchendur Taluk. This Town is Srivaikuntam Assembly constituency and Tiruchendur Parliamentary sector.
